Melanie Wahlberg

When we feel stuck, we naturally want answers. It would be reassuring to feel supported instead of alone in our efforts to progress. In this talk, I discuss what I’ve found helpful from my practice of Christian Science healing: a way to experience God as an active presence of good in our lives, and a reliable source of fresh ideas that bring about inspired solutions.

Ideas from God, rooted in the spirituality that makes up our true nature, stir something new in our consciousness. They uplift our outlook — sometimes before we even realize — in ways that change our lives and our health for the better.

During the lecture, I refer to God as divine Love or Mind, rather than as a superhuman figure making arbitrary decisions about our lives. This divine Mind is the infinite, loving source of all good, timeless ideas. God’s thoughts remind us of our spiritual identity, show us our potential, and enable us to heal and to be healed.

But how do we find these healing ideas consistently?  We’ll look at the teachings of Christ Jesus, our best and most practical example. And we’ll delve into Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, as the explanation of Christian Science healing based on Christ Jesus’ life. I’ll give examples of how this healing approach has transformed lives, including a mother and her infant daughter who experienced physical healing. The mother said, “It felt like the ideas themselves did the work.”

The How and Why and Wonder of Spiritual Healing

International speaker and Christian Science healer, Beth Packer, will join us from Berry, New South Wales, Australia, to present this online lecture.

This lecture explores the phenomena of spiritual healing as recorded throughout the Bible. Such healing had for centuries allowed people to live their lives with dominion and not be victims to their circumstances. The lecture gives present-day examples to prove that such healing is not just something of the past but is also a present possibility. Healing examples include protection from an attack, healing of a medically diagnosed ‘incurable’ illness, and effects of a severe accident.

About Beth Packer

In her capacity as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, Beth has been invited to lecture around the world, talking with audiences in such diverse situations as the hallowed halls of London to the inmates in provincial prisons in Africa and Asia.  All receive the same message of divine love and healing.

But it is through her practice of Christian Science healing that the words and ideas she shares in her talks are proven true.  Beth says, “that if an idea is true, it is universal, impersonal and provable.  Spiritual healing as recorded in the Bible is as available today as it was then.  And the understanding Christian Science brings to us all, makes that healing accessible to everyone, everywhere, always to bring help and healing to our daily life.”

As a young child, growing up in a Christian Science family, she saw healing as a normal part of life.

“Mum used to heal the cats and dogs and kids, whoever needed help, so we never thought of Christian healing as an unusual phenomena.  It was just a sign that God loved us. From those early experiences came a deep wish that one day, I, too, would be able to help those around me know that love we had felt as children.”

Beth Packer, CS

After becoming an award-winning artist and mother of two girls, she and her own family moved overseas to live in the Middle East for a while, returning home to Australia to start a successful retail business and also become involved in many community welfare projects.  Finally in 2005, she was accepted into the worldwide Journal of Christian Science practitioners, entering the full-time healing practice.

“It was those years of putting into practice the truths that I’d grown up with, of healing through prayer the difficulties that can arise in family and public life, that really prepared me to be able to be of real use to those around me.  And now also being able to share the precious message of healing through lecturing, is a humbling, heartening, joyous privilege, as well as such an amazing adventure.

Demystifying Spiritual Healing

International speaker and Christian Science healer, Beth Packer, will join us from Berry, New South Wales, Australia, to present this online lecture.

In “Demystifying Spiritual Healing,” we discover where genuine security in our lives really comes from. There is a divine Principle underlying our lives that, when relied on, consistently brings peace and goodness. By looking to God, Spirit, instead of materiality, the people in the Bible found reliable peace, healing and solutions to their everyday needs. The discovery of the Science of Christ, by Mary Baker Eddy, shows how we can experience this same peace, security and healing in our lives.

This is a lecture full of heart and practical application. Through analogies and healing examples, in ‘Demystifying Spiritual Healing’ we discover where genuine security in our lives really comes from. The knowledge that there is a divine Principle underlying our lives that, when relied on, consistently brings peace and goodness to our lives, has been known and proved for centuries. We see that, by looking to God, Spirit, instead of materiality, the people in the Bible found reliable peace, healing and solutions to their everyday needs. And the discovery of the Science of Christ, by Mary Baker Eddy, shows how we too can experience this same peace, security and healing, in our lives. It brings us to the realization that we can no more run out of the good that we need than we can run out of God’s love for us.

…if an idea is true, it is universal, impersonal and provable. Spiritual healing as recorded in the Bible is as available today as it was then. And the understanding Christian Science brings to us all, makes that healing accessible to everyone, everywhere, always to bring help and healing to our daily life.
